Alabamians May Save on Groceries

There is a ray of hope if you live in Alabama. One of the things I hear complaints about all the time and feel at the grocery store, the tax on food. With the markets plunging, the good news for Americans is that the price of items (especially gasoline) has decreased dramatically. But the one thing that has not been effected in this way…the prices you pay to feed your family.

But for once, the republican party is trying to do some good. They are trying to propose a bill that will slowly eliminate the 4% sales tax on groceries that plagues Alabamians. But, of course, there is a catch. They want to try to decrease the tax by 1% a year, but only in the years when the education tax collections are growing by 3% or more. So, if you want to pay less at the grocery store, give more to furthering the education of our youngsters. It’s kind of a fair trade….
